The Spirit’s Impact
In the weeks and months following Pentecost there was, in the hearts of the disciples, a hyper-tangible sense of the realness, the immediacy, of the inside-of-them, superpower in the person of the Holy Spirit. This wild, near-vibrating source of energy outpaced all feelings of personal unworthiness, inferiority, guilt, and shame, rendering them incapable of subduing the audacious new working through them. Certainly, the heady days of the church’s infancy would have been described as overwhelmingly, fearfully, exhaustingly, exciting – and unquenchable.
