The Way of Things
We continue to imagine all that was ‘mission critical’ that Jesus needed to be sure the disciples ‘got’ during those fleeting, precious, forty days after the Resurrection. Maybe most of the teachable moments that occurred during the three-year apprenticeship merited at least a refresher, if not a full rehearsal. One such situation stands out which required re-visiting. It happened during the Last Supper after Jesus had spoken of his upcoming betrayal. The conversation quickly shifted away from that awkward scenario, moving on to a discussion that was safer, more familiar, truer to the disciples’ context.
