The prophetic image of Jesus with a double-edged sword coming from his mouth, might have been terrible were it not for the Word’s healing instruction. It was a visual of the double-edged beauty of truth and mercy surgically piercing hearts to clear the way to wholeness. The Lover of our souls now dictates a third letter, this time as the One who is holding the purity of his beloved to the highest standard, that of truth. And this, so that he might see everyone come to repentance and belonging. His supreme invitation to his purified bride, his beloved, is to the wedding feast.
