Somebody Loves Us (and not just anybody!)

Preacher:
Passage: John 15:9-17
Service Type:

In his stupefying, open vision recorded in the book of Revelation (ch.19), the Apostle John sees a rider called Faithful and True seated on a white horse. His eyes are like blazing fire and he wears many crowns on his head. He has a secret name, but his known name is the Word of God. John sees on the rider’s robe and on his thigh another name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS. This lionish rider goes to the nations to rule them with an iron scepter, treading the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. But he also issues an invitation, to his wedding known as the wedding of the Lamb, to his bride who has made herself beautiful, dressed in fine linen, bright and clean. Blessed, Scripture says, are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb. Jesus – our Jesus – is here pictured as Warrior-Messiah-King and Lover.* And the wedding invitation is to us, his Bride, his Beloved!
