Re-Discovering our Lost Treasure
Because of His bounding joy, God went to meticulous lengths forming us in His image. Then, Adam’s tragic failure in the Garden marred that image. Until that moment when Adam’s disobedience disrupted God’s order, the prevailing atmosphere in Eden had been all-encompassing joy. This God-supplied joy was an essential bonding element in the love relationship between God and humanity, His greatly loved creation. As a consequence of sin’s intrusion, we all now enter life ‘fallen’ from our originally designed perfection and are ardently pursued by our Jealous Lover God until we are fully restored to joy in relationship with Him; until, once again, we bear His likeness. Renewed emphasis on, and re-discovery of, joy as central, is, today, a critical task laid at our feet.
