If you consider yourself without fault
and this killing you condone;
then go ahead, my friend,
and select the first stone.
If you believe yourself immune
due to connections with the throne;
then go ahead, my friend
and pick up the first stone.
If you see her crime as heinous,
so much worse than your own;
then go ahead, my friend
and aim the first stone.
If you have no hidden vice,
no addictions dark or known;
then go ahead, my friend
and throw the first stone.
Unless you see yourself as perfect,
with no need to atone;
then maybe, my friend
its time to drop that first stone.
We who judge, collude and accuse,
surely our cover is blown;
maybe it’s time to seek forgiveness,
and be done with all these stones.

‘Let him who is without sin, cast the first stone’ (John 8:7)
