A Week of Extremes

Preacher:
Series:
Passage: Luke 19:28-44
Service Type:

Like the week of final exams for university seniors, this coming week called Holy Week was, for Jesus, one of extremes, one of intensity. The time was rapidly approaching for the culminating act of the divine love mission on which he’d been sent by his Father. This roiling drama guaranteed that none of the characters who’d been drawn into its vortex were neutral. Emotions ran at an all-time high at both ends of the love/hate spectrum. It was a week that would prove Jesus’ humanity and a week that would prove his divinity. It was a week that would vindicate his character and a week that would expose the character of the religious elite. It was a week that would test the love and commitment of his closest disciples and a week that would prove his love for, and faithfulness to, them. It was a week that would highlight his obedience to his Father and a week that would rattle the taut logic of Roman leadership.
