Today, I’m proposing a spiritual exercise called Lectio Divina (Holy Reading). It’s very simple. It asks that you make yourself comfortable in a quiet place where you won’t be interrupted. Quiet your thinking. Breathe slowly. Focus on the presence of Jesus with you. Then, slowly read these verses from Ephesians three times, pausing (at least 15 seconds) between each reading. After the first reading, ask yourself what you notice in these verses. After the second reading, see if there is a particular word or phrase that stands out to you. After the third reading, take a minute to see if Jesus is speaking to you through that word or phrase or through the whole passage. What is the invitation from him that you feel? (this may feel awkward at first, but this can be of significant worth if made a regular practice.) There is no failure here. If nothing else, we’ve spent longer with a passage than is the norm. And that makes Him very happy!) Be blessed! PD
“Since we are now joined to Christ, we have been given the treasures of redemption by his blood – the total cancellation of our sins – all because of the cascading riches of his grace. This superabundant grace is already powerfully working in us, releasing all forms of wisdom and practical understanding.” Ephesians 1:7,8 TPT
“I pray that you will continually experience the immeasurable greatness of God’s power made available to you through faith. Then your lives will be an advertisement of this immense power as it works through you! This is the mighty power that was released when God raised Christ from the dead . . .” Ephesians 1:19,20 TPT
