The Book of Psalms is often referred to as the Bible’s hymnbook. It’s not just honey-sweet, flowery poetry, but includes raw, vengeful storming, tearful pleading, and rage-against-injustice meltdowns. There’s also the highest, joy-filled exalting of Yahweh and His awe-inspiring attributes. It’s all acceptable to God’s ears and it’s included at the Spirit’s insistence, for us, to flesh out our spiritual understanding, to better grasp how we appear in God’s eyes, to more clearly perceive that our place of centering is a robust, muscular, enduring joy.
