Living in Alaska, we were driving to a famous ski resort and enroute tons of people had pulled over the side of the road. They had empty jugs and water bottles . The second time we decided we wanted in on whatever the hype was. There was this pvc pipe that extended from the top of the rocks down to just off the highway. The water from melted ice drained through the pipe in a steady stream in the springtime . I did not know water could be so refreshing. I also did not know that water tastes amazing went it actually doesn’t taste like anything. When it is pure, it doesn’t have the chemicals that give it a metallic flavor. I think of the words of Jesus in Isaiah 55 when He says “All who are thirsty come to the waters.”
He implores us in this chapter to “Listen, Listen to me” and eat what is good, when we do our soul will “delight in the richest of fare”. Jesus bids us to come to Him; the pure untainted living water. He bids us to come “without money and without cost”.
Coming to Him with our plans, our hurts, seeking out His higher ways , He promises that we will
“Go out in joy and
Be Led forth in peace
The mountains and the hills will burst into song before you
And all the trees of the field will clap their hands.”
Mark and I are planning a connect group for our new church.
I was sitting by a waterfall to just get clarity. And in the midst of the planning, I thought – I want God’s presence- it makes all the difference so I asked “Lord will you come and be a part of our group?” I heard his voice in my soul say, ”Gladly, thanks for the invite.” Then, I thought wait a minute and asked as I pondered Jesus the pure Living water amidst the roaring of the waterfall by my side “ Will you lead our group?” And His voice thundered in the depths of my being, ”Now that’s what I am talking about!” Oh the stress alleviated , the joy, peace and freedom from not being in charge just following Him; the pure untainted steady-flowing refreshing Living Water.
