Historic, pivotal events are astonishing in their capacity to awaken in people an urgency to seek God. Friday, January 20, 2017, 11:30 AM-12:30 PM EST was the occasion of millions upon millions of prayers flooding God’s throne room. Maybe yours were among them.

But that soaring deluge was hardly presenting the same concerns, the same desires. And it is at this juncture we celebrate those divine attributes: omnipotence, omniscience, omnipresence. Heaven is eternally unshakable, unperturbable and constantly full of love.

As our nation continues to reel from the acrimony of the past eighteen months, we find hope in the God of all comfort (2 Corinthians 1:3), in the God in whom there is no shadow of turning (James 1:17) in the Savior who will never leave us or forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6, Hebrews 13:5). Jesus buoys our hearts and lifts our heads and urges us to hone our reconciliation skills. He calls us to humbly dispense grace and mercy in the same measure they have humbled us and to be His city on a hill, shining with His signature love and forgiveness and healing. The Holy Spirit is more than eager to empower each of us to fulfill that divine mission.

We convene for our re-commissioning Sunday at 10 AM. He’ll be waiting! Are you in?
